Bio One: Who I Think I Am
“Who does this ‘deshipley’ person think he/she is?!”, you ask?
Well, I think I’m a “she”, I can tell you that much right off the bat. And I’m pretty sure that “deshipley” stands as an abbreviation for “Danielle E. Shipley”, a name by which you are most welcome to address me. I also answer to just plain “Danielle”, “Danielle-o’-the-Dale”, “Author”, and “Hey, you”.
I think I’m a writer, and a pretty darn good one, if I may say so in all reasonable modesty. I’m an author of mainly young-adult fantasy fiction, just getting my foot in the door of the literary world. That “Danielle-o’-the-Dale” stuff might lead one to believe that I think I’m a legitimate minstrel, but I’m afraid both I and the minstrels in my head know better. If I’m being honest with myself, I don’t even really believe that I’m “Hey, you”.
I often think I should have been born British or something, so I could rock the accent, instead of unconsciously faking it badly. I occasionally think that I was born in the wrong time, or maybe just on the wrong plane of reality. It’s moments like those that I really wish I were writing. Or drawing. Or making music. But it always comes back to writing.
I think I’ve said all that I really want to about me, for now. If you want to chat more, drop me a line somewhere on the blog. *I am always watching.* …unless the Technology Fiend’s shot down my internet.
Bio Two: Who I Officially Tell You I Am
Danielle E. Shipley’s first novelettes told the everyday misadventures of wacky kids like herself. …Or so she thought. Unbeknownst to them all, half of her characters were actually closeted elves, dwarves, fairies, or some combination thereof. When it all came to light, Danielle did the sensible thing: Packed up and moved to Fantasy Land, where daily rent is the low, low price of her heart, soul, blood, sweat, tears, firstborn child, sanity, and words; lots of them. She’s also been known to spend short bursts of time in the real-life Chicago area with the parents who home schooled her and the two little sisters who keep her humble. When she’s not living the highs and lows of writing young adult novels, she’s probably blogging about it.
Bio Three: Who I Really Am
Writer of characters, scribe of their stories;
Singer of songs she lets her minstrels claim;
Perfectionist learning to know “good enough”
While refusing to give up on what’s in her name:
Dare to fantasize
And make music out of air.
Nothing in reality
Is equal to a dream.
Eh, that’s hyperbolic.
Let’s stick closer to the truth:
Little of factual life
Equals fiction; how ’bout that?
…Also gets artistically carried away when writing bios.
Thanks for reading of me, world.
